Win 14 at GTR West

Looking for 14

At the Greater Toronto West Robotics competition at the Hershey Centre this past weekend team 2056 finished seventh with a record of 8 and 2 at the end of the qualifying rounds.

The team picked MMRambotics, team 2200 from Burlington and Retro-Rams, team 4001 from Toronto. The alliance won the quarter finals with an upset, 2 games straight.  It took three games to win the semi-finals also an upset.  The finals put us straight up against our friends from Governor Simcoe team 1114.

Waterloo Regional

With a record of 9 and 2, team 2056 was ranked 4th overall at the Waterloo Regional this past weekend.  Picked by 1114 from Governor Simcoe St Catharines and joined by team 4372 from RBDG School in Cambridge, the alliance went on to win each best of three quarter finals, semi finals and finals.  The alliance scored a tremendous number of points reaching 105 in one match alone.  The win increases the teams regional wins to 13, a world record that seems like it will never be broken.

GTR East Champions

At the inaugural Greater Toronto Regional East FIRST Robotics competition March 8-10, 2012, OP Robotics Team 2056 went on to win their twelfth straight regional event.  After finishing 9-0-1 and ranking 3rd overall, they were picked by the number one ranked Team 1114 from Governor Simcoe in St Catharines along with Team 1219 from Emery Collegiate Institute in Toronto.  The alliance went on to win each of the best of three quarter finals, semi-finals and finals with only one loss.

2056 Build

Team 2056 is in the middle of the six week build season, frantically designing, prototyping, building, and programming this year’s robot that will compete in "Rebound Rumble".  Team members, mentors and parents have been spending evenings and weekends preparing the robot and practice field so they are ready to compete in March.

Rookie Team Kit Bot Demo

Rookie Team 4039, MakeShift Robotics and Team 4022, Waterdown Robotics joined OP Robotics for three one hour sessions to build last year’s kit bot during preseason.  All three teams enjoyed success with a moving robot at the end of the hands on workshop as well as some new friendships.  We wish our two new Hamilton teams great success in the upcoming build and competition season.
