Team History
2056

"Team 2056 has had an illustrious past taking part in the FIRST Robotics Competition since 2007. Team 2056 is the current world record holder with 8 consecutive regional wins since their rookie year."

2010

A soccer game with bumps and towers requiring robots to score soccer balls on nets and manoeuver around the obstacle filled field. "Hammer Time", named after its hammer kicker and in recognition of Hamilton, held up to the rugged game, attending both Canadian Regionals. The team prevailed and continued the streak - winning both events and receiving their fourth invite to the Worlds in Atlanta.

Our fourth visit was not going to hold us in our semi-final jinx. Winning the Galileo Division was a great experience but playing on Einstein in front of 20,000 people was amazing. The alliance fell to the eventual World Champions but the team was extremely proud of the success. We also were awarded the "Engineering Excellence" Award - one of only five technical awards handed out to the 344 teams present. Way to go 2056! We had a great time playing with 1625 from Winnebago, IL and team 3138 from Dayton, OH. Thanks for a great season.

2009

A game with a slippery surface and requiring robots to pull trailers was a new experience for Team 2056, our new robot, the "Pursuit of Happiness", and much of FIRST. Team 2056 kept to their Canadian roots and attended the Waterloo and Greater Toronto Regionals. At Waterloo the team tied the previous record of 5 consecutive victories with a record of 15-1-0. At GTR Team 2056 again suffered only 1 loss with a record of 14-1-0 and won their 6th consecutive regional setting a new FIRST world record!

Once again Team 2056 attended the finals in Atlanta, this year in the Archimedes division. The team entered the eliminations along with teams 503 and 1114. After winning both quarter finals in their division, for the third year in a row Team 2056 was defeated in the divisional semi-finals, this time by 1218, 2753 and 222. Team 2056 finished with a record of 8-3-1 and is grateful for the assistance provided by their partners in the elimination rounds.

2008

The purpose of this game was to throw 40 inch balls over a 6.5 tall overpass and team 2056 and their robot "Tilt-a-Hurl" were up to the challenge. The team started off the season at the Waterloo regional with a record of 15-2-0 leading to the teams 3rd regional win and second in a row at Waterloo. The following week Team 2056 participated in the Greater Toronto Regional and preformed tremendously, boasting a record of 14 wins and zero losses, leading to our 4th consecutive victory in just two years.

Team 2056 once again attended the finals in Atlanta, being placed in Newton division. The team was paired up with the expertise of teams 68 and 111 going into the elimination rounds. We won both our quarter-final matches. However, Team 2056 was tipped in the semi-finals, and their alliance was ultimately defeated by teams 2016, 1574 and 141. Once again, Team 2056 was happy to have made it this far and was already looking ahead to the next year.

2007

In a game centered around moving tubes on a rack located in the centre of the field, Team 2056 and their robot "Zero" dove head first into their rookie season. The Waterloo Regional was the first FRC event the team took part in and was a great introduction into the world of FIRST. Team 2056 won their first competition with a record of 14-3-1, which lead to the team being awarded the Rookie All-Star award and the Highest Rookie seed. 2056 also attended the Greater Toronto Regional where they were the Highest Rookie seed and gained a second regional win with a record of 14-1-0.

Due to their numerous wins and awards Team 2056 had the honor of attending the world championship in Atlanta this year and was placed in the Galileo Division. Going 8-5-0 at the competition team 2056 made it out of qualifications, and continued into the divisional semi finals until their alliance of 2056, 1712 and 703 was beaten by 503, 65 and 79. The team as very excited with the finish and hoped to do as well in following years.
