2056 has received tremendous support from our community and we believe in giving back to our community.
January 2012
The team organized and participated in their first clothing drive over the Christmas holidays and brought in about 1325 pounds of gently used clothes. Some of these donations went to the “Walk-in-closet” here at Orchard Park, and the rest was donated to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Well done team! James Nott was the winner of the most clothing, bringing in a total of 275 pounds.
November 2011
35 elementary school students were invited to come to Orchard Park for a day of using Lego Mindstorms and VEX robotics kits. These young students worked hand-in-hand with the members of Team 2056 to build a robot to accomplish different tasks. They learned problem solving and design skills as well as how to work under a strict timeline in a competitive atmosphere. All of the students told us that they learned a lot about robotics and had fun participating in the event. We look forward to hosting more events and teaching more people about science, technology and problem solving skills.

November 2011
Members of the team spent their Saturday with the Stoney Creek Fire Department helping them collect about six tonnes of much needed food during their 16th annual food drive on November 26th. This gave the students an unforgettable experience working throughout the community as well as future possibilities helping the community.
Fall 2011
Sponsorship Tours are very important to the team in a number of ways. It first gives our students an opportunity to see what some of our sponsor do on a daily basis. Seeing the equipment, people and products, gives them a better idea of the possibilities that lay before them. Second, it gives the students an opportunity to share their passion for robotics, science and technology while honing their presentation and public speaking skills. Finally, it gives the sponsors an opportunity to show off what they do best. The team participated in three tours this fall – Jantz Canada with a BBQ and tour, Whiting Door and Richmond Steel both with demonstrations and tours.
August 2011
The team is supported by the Winona Men’s Club and 2056 also supports them in their annual Winona Peach Festival fundraising. Helping in Winona Men’s Club’s famous Peach Sundae booth and Ice Cream booth has given the students an opportunity to give back to the community. Some of the funds raised during this weekend also went towards the team. We also help the Rotary Club on the same weekend, giving back to a club that gives so much.
May 2011
OP Robotics has participated in the annual Stoney Creek Flag Day parade for the past four years. It is a great experience for the students to be involved in such a celebration of Canadian pride. As well, it gives the community a chance to see the Award Winning robots and pass on their congratulations to the team members.
